Abbots Langley Tough Ten started in 1982, with the aim of raising money for the charity called MENCOP.
Originally a 10 mile race, it has been in its 10K format for many years now, and is supported by three other races, a Park Run, a 3K and a 5K.
Over the years, its support has widened to provide funds to help local clubs and charities continue with their good work, to assist schools with special projects and individual beneficiaries to improve their quality of life. It is an annual community event which attracts serious runners from across the country.
Constantly seeking deserving local beneficiaries, the Tough Ten’s funds have provided specialised equipment for the less mobile in the form of hoists, beds, wheelchairs and tricycles, contributions to medical care costs for many people in the area and donations to baby units and hospices as well as local youth clubs and sports teams. Any local individual or organisation wishing to be considered for support from the Tough Ten funds, can contact the committee through these pages.
All funds raised are distributed and the committee members are volunteers.
In 2015 the Abbots Langley Tough Ten was registered with the Charities Commission as a Charitable Trust.
